Flute Salad is usually a name taken by large flute choirs. This Flute Salad, formed about two years ago, has one flute, one keyboard, and one acoustic string bass. The group specializes in easy listening classics, standards, show tunes, and light jazz.

Flautist Karen Hede earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Minnesota and played for several years in the Duluth/Superior Symphony Orchestra. She was a regular member of the MCC Theatre Department pit orchestra from 2003.  

Karen Hamstra plays keyboard and is the director/arranger for the group. She earned a BA in music from La Sierra University. For the past 15 years she  worked with the MCC Theatre Department in many musical capacities, including pit orchestra keyboardist.

Ellen Kendig plays the upright bass. She is a long-time member of the Lake Havasu Regional Orchestra and the Symphonic Winds. Ellen was also a member of the  MCC pit orchestra.

Flute Salad is available to play for special events requiring an elegant atmosphere.
